Grammar : On time and in time

What is the difference between on time and in time? 

"On time" = at the planned time; neither late nor early.
e.g. Peter wants the meeting to start exactly on time. 

"In time" = with enough time to spare; before the last moment.
e.g. He would have died if they hadn’t got him to the hospital in time.


What is the difference between in the end and at the end? 

"In the end" = finally, after a long time.  
e.g. In the end, I got a visa for Russia. 

"At the end" = at the point where something stops.
e.g. I think the film’s a bit weak at the end.

I'm sorry, could you repeat that, please?

Could you say that again, please?

- не делайте долгих пауз, постарайтесь выиграть время для того, чтобы собраться с мыслями, это можно сделать, используя фразы, которыедают время на раздумье:

You know ... Let me think ... Actually ... It's difficult to say ... I'm not quite sure ... In fact ... .


Task
Give a 2-minute talk about sports.
Remember to say:
- which sports are popular in your country;
- if you like doing sport in your free time;
- if you prefer team or individual sport, why;
- what sport facilities you use in your area.


Recommendations:

Nowadays sport has become an important feature in people's life. Increasing number of people in Russia are involved in activities that help them to keep fit enjoy life. To keep fit some people attend special classes or take part in aerobics or yoga, do some kind of weight training in a gym. Others play badminton, tennis or football.


Among the most popular sports in Russia are tennis, basketball, volleyball and .... . Many Russians are fond of playing football ... .  Also, Russians like outdoor winter sports and activities, such as skiing and skating. /Skiing is extremely popular in Russia. It is also a major competitive sport (cross - country skiing). People of almost any age can enjoy ice skating as healthful and relaxing exercise. Skating is an important competitive sport. Athletes compete in two kinds of ice skating - figure skating and speed skating./


In my neighbourhood/ in my area there is a large variety of available facilities (a  football pitch, basketball and tennis courts, a swimming pool, an ice-skating rink, a gym, a sports centre, a fitness club, etc.) I often go/ attend ...

Year 8 Computers and the Internet Unit 6

Computers are a huge part of modern life and becoming more and more popular as nearly all our digital devices have become pocket sized and wireless. They can offer huge learning advantages in maths and literacy as well as such skills as problem solving, motor skills and memory.
But remember that

• computer time should be limited to two hours of "screen time" (including TV) per day to avoid eye strain and over stimulation

• you should sit properly and take regular breaks
